Erin Stevens
Personal and Professional Background
Current Role/Title:
Executive Director at Ellie Mental Health. I am also a Licensed Professional Counselor Supervisor in the state of Louisiana.
Industry/Field Expertise:
Mental Health - both clinical work and healthcare business administration. I also built Ellie New Orleans from the ground up.
Experience and Skills
Professional Experience:
At my previous place of employment, I worked my way up from an Outpatient Therapist to the Executive Director within 5 years where I managed a psychiatric practice that included 5 office locations across 2 states. My team included Psychiatrists, Nurse Practitioners, Psychologists, Counselors, Social Workers and a full administrative staff. I built the therapy program to include provisionally licensed counselors in order to offer reduced rates to increase accessibility to care. I have experience writing and giving presentations at conferences to fellow mental health professionals for continuing education units with the hopes of offering these training sessions to outside industries who work with people in any capacity. I have supervised 2 provisionally licensed therapists to full licensure and currently have 3 under my supervision.
At my current place of employment, I have built a team of diverse clinicians who I now manage as well as all operations of the clinic. I am building a second team at our Mississippi clinic and will continue to build upwards of 15 total clinics across 3 states.
Specialized Skills:
I have been working in the mental health industry since 2010. I started off doing developmental assessments for early intervention services in the state of Pennsylvania and helped train their DCFS employees on social emotional development in children. I have been living and working in New Orleans since 2014. My area of expertise clinically is in trauma work, specifically working with adults who have unresolved childhood trauma. I have extensive experience working with the perinatal and postpartum population, where I utilize my expertise in infant mental health. I now have over 5 years of experience in healthcare management leadership; 4 within a corporate environment and 1 in franchising. My clinical experience has been in community-based programming, grant-funded and/or government-funded agencies, non-profits, and private practice.
Mentorship Areas
Strengths as a Mentor:
Leadership/managing a team of people, networking/outreach/business development
Preferred Mentee Type:
Early career professionals whether they are still in school or recently graduated. I'd also have an interest in working with individuals who are making a career change later in life.
Achievements and Recognition
Awards and Honors:
I was on the Advisory Board of Jeremiah's Place, Pittsburgh's first and only crisis nursery. I am currently on the Community Advisory Board of Family Connects New Orleans and am a member of the Louisiana LPC PAC (Louisiana Licensed Professional Counselors Political Action Committee). My current advocacy work involves addressing hindrances to accessing quality mental health care in the state of Louisiana. I am also a Licensed Professional Counselor Supervisor for the Louisiana State Board of Licensed Professional Counselors, meaning that I provide supervision to provisionally licensed professional counselors while they are obtaining their 3,000 required hours to receive full licensure.
Personality and Interests
Hobbies/Interests:
I am recently married to a Marine Veteran who is also a small business owner in New Orleans. My hobbies include both playing and watching sports, hanging out with our two dogs, and experiencing all that the New Orleans culture has to offer.
My "why" stems from multiple factors, mostly influenced by personal past experiences. Since I am not a native New Orleanian, I understand the difficulties of trying to break into an industry and create connections made up of locals to make a name for yourself. I also work in an industry that is primarily female and yet, the majority of my supervisors/owners/leaders have been male. I find a lot of fulfillment helping women achieve their goals both personally and professionally, especially early on in their careers when we are most vulnerable.

Preferred Communication Style:
I prefer meeting in person but am open to virtual and hybrid options.
Preferred outreach:
They can email me at this email address and can text or call my work cell: 504-229-0025

I am flexible with scheduling but can only provide a monthly or every other month meeting at this time.
